Molly walked Penny into the jump ring. A six jump course was set up, and all the jumps were between 3'2 and 3'6- relatively low for Penny, who had proven herself up to 5'2. Of course, doing a course bareback made things slightly more difficult, but intensified the adrenaline rush. With the help of a mounting block, she hopped on the bay mare, picked up her reins, and started their warm-up. After a few laps of walking, she started asking for a bit of collection and they did a few laps of trot work. Once she had Penny focused and listening, she asked for the canter. It took a few strides to get her to refocus on Molly, but once Penny did, they were ready to start jumping. Guiding the mare towards the first jump, a 3'2 vertical, Molly could feel her get excited. With a half-halt to remind her to stay in check, they approached the jump and got over it with just a nick. Their takeoff was slightly late, and she made note to slow her even more before the next jump. Continuing the pattern set up, she went over the second 3'2 vertical with better timing. Much better, she thought happily.

After one more run of the course, Molly cooled the mare down and turned her out. "Thanks for the ride, girl."
