I though I should start a thread about the individual needs of the horses so the barn manager and workers would know what to do. Talk about turnout, feed or any other needs. Leave a note to Molly or anyone else.

Kelly walks in and leaves a few notes:
Remy,
my stallion Prince needs a special feed program: morning: 2 flakes of hay, one scoop of soaked beet pulp, 1 tbsp mineral mix, 1 tbsp garlic powder, 2tbsp cod liver oil, 1 tsp of flax seeds, quarter scoop of soaked barley, half scoop of oats
mid-day: 2 flakes of hay
evening: 2 flakes of hay, one scoop of soaked beet pulp, 1 tbsp mineral mix, 1 tbsp garlic powder, 2tbsp cod liver oil, 1 tsp of flax seeds, quarter scoop of soaked barley
Also, the new horse "Freezie" is in one of the stallion stalls because he is in special training and has been dangerous. He is not to be turned out until I say so, as he is in my training program. For now, please keep him in a stallion stall. Please feed him: Morning: 2 flakes of hay, 1/2 scoop of oats
Mid-day: 1 flake of hay
Evening: 2 flakes of hay, 1/2 scoop of oats
-Thanks, Kelly
The second not she leaves reads:
Hi Molly, I have a lesson to teach tomorrow and I need to use a school horse. Can I use them when I need or would you like me to ask you first? I need a horse for a rider who does level 3 dressage for tomorrow, which horse would you suggest. The horse needs to have good ground manners because my student doesn't seem to have great horsemanship skills(something I will teach her). Also, do you know if there are anymore students or horses to teach/train? -Thanks, Kelly

Remy walked into the office because Molly had told her there were some instructions from Kelly about Prince and Freezie. She looked around the cluttered desk and saw it. She picked it up and read it and decided to keep it in the feed room with her to make sure she gets Prince's feed right, and walked out.

"Oh, hi Kelly. Why don't you sit down?" Molly suggested, sitting down herself. "And by the way, feel free to use any of the school horses- that's what they're there for. What horse they'll ride will depend on your student's riding ability. I'll leave you to decide." Mollly was pleased with her new dressage trainer. She seemed confident and in charge of herself- not one to take crap from a full-of-it horse.

Kelly sat down. "Thanks, I'll use a fairly beginner horse because I'm doing a riding assessment. As for the ideas, I was thinking that we could have wash racks and private pastures for some of the horses like the stallions. The private pens would be smaller, with no shelter and small water buckets. I think it would also be good to have these pastures with fences two feet higher than normal for bad horses and stallions." I would really like my stallion to be turned out for a few hours per day as well as one of my horses in training"

Molly considered these ideas. "I really like the idea of the wash rack- in fact, that sounds perfect. I'll have to make a few calls, but I'll see about getting one installed. As far as the pastures go, I'm going to have to think about it and see if it's in our budget. Right now, I don't see any reason we shouldn't though!" She smiled at the woman. "Thanks for the great ideas, Kelly."

Kelly walked into the office and left a few notes:
Molly, I just bought a new horse. He is a five-year-old hanoverian gelding competing at level 3 and schooling at level 4. I almost got a knabstrupper filly but I decided she just wouldn't work out too well and she was quite expensive. The gelding is absolutely beautiful! He has two hind socks and a strip and he is 16.2 hh. He has a clean bill of health and arrives tomorrow. If you know anyone looking for a quality filly, the one I saw today is an excellent dressage prospect. I also saw a really good jumper prospect that is a holsteiner mare. She is eight years old and jumping at 5'8 right now and can free jump over 6'. He is priced to sell at only $25 000! She also schools well in dressage and does well in cross country, so with work she could become a top level eventer. So if anyone is looking for a horse, tell them to talk to me. I'll tell the barn manager about the new arrival and his feed routine. -Kelly
The other note reads
Remy, my new horse arrives tomorrow and he needs a stall ready. He is a gelding so he doesn't need a special stall. I'd like him to be turned out during the day in the gelding field but I want him to stay inside for his first two days. His feed is : Morning: 2 flakes of hay, 1/2 scoop beat pulp, 1/4 scoop of oats, 1 tbsp of his mineral mix
Mid-day: 1 flake of hay, 1/2 scoop beat pulp, 1/4 scoop of oats, 1/2 tbsp of his mineral mix
Evening: 2 flakes of hay, 1 scoop beat pulp, 1/2 scoop of oats, 1 tbsp of his mineral mix Could you slowly add garlic powder into his feed too? I want him to have 2 tbsp of it spread out throughout the day. -thanks, Kelly

Kelly left a quick note to Remy:
Hi Remy, I'm riding Prince a lot more now as we are training for I2 level competition in a few weeks. Could you add 1/8 cup of his joint supplement to his evening feed? -Thanks, Kelly

Kelly left a message for Molly:
Hi Molly, I just assessed Sara's horse skills and she is quite advanced. She is interested in riding and working with lots of horses and would like to be a working student. Could she take one of the working student spots?
