Kelly decided to work the school horses for Molly until they got riders assigned to them. Today she had the show jumper "Sugar" to do some flatwork. She started off lunging to get rid of some of Sugar's pent up energy. She lunged her in slide reins for about ten minutes and then mounted up. She already had her warmed up so she worked on transitions, circles, balance, control and most of all everything to do with speed. She galloped him and cantered her doing small circles and flying changed. She did figure eights, sudden stops and acceleration. With a very tired, sweaty horse, Kelly left the ring to cool her.

Kelly walked Doc, a high level thoroughbred eventer, into the ring. She was going to school him at prix. st. George level. He would be a good eventing show horse for any of the students. Kelly warmed him up, long and low, at walk, trot and canter. Then she worked on collection, balance and impulsion. She did extended trot, working on having him stretch out his legs. She worked on half pirouettes, half pass, shoulder in, vaults, 10 meter canter circles, leg yielding and four beat tempi changes. Doc really needed this ride to get back into dressage mode after being ridden mainly in cross country for the passed while. He was a fit horse and by the end of the ride he wasn't too sweaty. Kelly would probably ride him again tomorrow and work on a specific few things.
